Mobile Beat DJ Convention, Day 2

So here we are, the end of day 2 of the 2010 Mobile Beat Convention and I am feeling like I just got here and at the same time, it feels like I've been here for a week. It's been an action packed couple of days with 2 more to go.

Tomorrow promises to be another great day for learning and I can't wait to get to it. Just like my days have begun at the convention for the second year, I'll be up and at 'em early to head down to the morning marketing and performance discussions breakfast with the "Game Master" Scott Faver. Most of you may know I am NOT an early morning person but, for this I make the exception. I'll be up, showered, dressed and down to breakfast before 6:30 am to grab my new "nugget of improvement" and to share anything I may have of use, then off to the remainder of the presentations. I'll tell you all about them tomorrow. These breakfasts have quickly become my favorite part of the convention. I'll tell you more about them in a bit.

Tomorrow's lineup is a great lineup and I am excited most about it. The seminars I will sit in on will address every single aspect of my business, so I am looking forward to fresh new ideas. Tomorrow also brings the ever popular "Show Floor" opening for the DJ's to make their deals on new equipment, business tools, games etc.. but mostly gear. DJ's in large are very interesting, they LOVE gear. I'll surely take my customary pass through to eye any new developments I may want to check out but, I'll quickly be heading back out as that room will be INSANELY loud and crowded.

Now, let's recap today. So as I mentioned above, my favorite part of these shows is the morning breakfast discussions and today was no exception. Today we had great discussions on keeping in contact with clients, potential clients, event professionals etc... Successful events require a solid relationship being built between the entertainment and the client and hopefully will not stop after their event has passed. I am not so great at keeping in contact with anyone other than current clients and want to improve on that. I think I learned a way today, we'll see soon. Here's Scott's website www.thepartyfavers.com

My first seminar today was with a GREAT speaker, Kent Julian. His topic was "Live (and Earn) It Forward - Living and Earning WAY BEYOND Your Average. While this was not really earthshaking "business" information it was certainly a look inward and motivating. The entire topic can be best summed up by one of Kent's quotes; "Really successful people are usually "average" individuals who have simply learned to live and lead their lives in a way that is... WAY BEYOND AVERAGE". How true that really is. Kent spoke of his love of his Wife, Family and Serving and it was a geat testimony. Ken't back tomorrow and I'm excited to hear his next presentation.

The only other seminar I believed was relevant to me and my business was Andy Ebon's "Mining Bridal Show Gold". What I liked most about Andy's presentation is; it was a DUH! moment. Not everything we hear will be new news to us and this was no exception BUT it was a "reminder" to focus on things you know are good and right in your business. It's nice to listen to the presenter and know you are in "tune" with them. OK, sorry, please forgive the pun, LOL! Even though I don't do bridal shows anymore, I took my affirmation from Andy's seminar and related it to other aspects of my business, thanks Andy. If you want to know more about Andy you can read his wedding marketing blog here http://weddingmarketing.net/

So after my seminars were wrapped up, I caught up with some friends and grabbed a nice dinner then headed back to the "Top of the Riv" party. We missed Coolio perform but caught all of The Sugarhill Gang's performance. They were alright.

So that brings us to the current Las Vegas time 11:45 pm an I am all done detailing my day 2 of the 2010 MB convention. If you're looking for more, come back tomorrow for a new update. If you don't want more, come back anyway ;)

I am enjoying my time as always but I am looking forward to getting back home to Jamie, Daisy and Cooper. Until the next update, good night from cold and rainy Las Vegas.
